I got a message from my niece, "Please aunty, tell me about my grandmom and grandpa"........
Thanks darling, today you asked me to remember both of them, though at least five times a day, my tongue is always spelling pray for them..... Certainly both of them are the person behind me at all time. Hope what my writing here reminds me and you too.
In today's society, many sons and daughters are influenced by modern cultures, in which, stress personal freedom and independence of children. This "freedom" often distance themselves from their parents.
Islam underlines that, it is Father who is responsible for holding the family together and to command to obey Allah to the members of the family. As what Muhammad the Prophet said (Tirmizi):
"The pleasure of Allah lies in the pleasure of fathers, and the displeasure of Allah lies in the displeasure of fathers".
And it is said that
"Of all that a father can give to his children, the best is their good education and training (religiously)" (Mishat Book).
Then... take a moment to remember and think about the person that carried us for 9 months in her womb, experienced great hardship during pregnancy, suffered painful in delivering baby, responded to our cries...., fed and nurtured us, and awoke for us everynight...
That was mother.
No matter what a son or daughter does in the life, there is nothing that can ever equal to the weight of love and kindness that should be given to mother. Muhammad the Prophet (PBUH) gave the reminder for muslim that respect to mother is three times than to father:
A man asked the Messenger of Allah, "Who is most deserving of friendly care from me?", He replied: "Your mother". The man asked, "Who come next?", The Prophet replied, "Your mother". The man then asked again, "Who come next", The Prophet replied "Your mother". The man then asked, "Who come next? The Prophet replied, " Your Father".
May Allah bless us, and we are including in the person who respect to our parent, especially mother. Amin
